Adventures in 5th and 6th Grade!

We have been AMAZINGLY busy these first few weeks of school.  First of all we went picking Indian Tea with the middle school so that we can dry and prepare it for gifts for our elders!  (WAY TO GO STUDENTS!!)

Next, we have celebrated, not one, but TWO, birthdays this month.  David Stillwell Black turned 11 on September 15^th and Cassie Black turned 10 September 17^th so we had double the amount of cupcakes and cake and root beer floats and we were all sugared up that Mr. Zantua had to place Miss Crystal and Miss Pearla in ISS for running around the school yard and bouncing in the classroom.  (but not really about the ISS part).

The fifth and sixth graders are learning Quileute Language with Miss Crystal EVERY DAY from 8:30am-9:00am and they know about 100 Quileute words already so please test them whenever you see them!

The Wilsons (David and Anna) have graciously adopted us and have been helping us make dance rattles…  That is right!  We are busy carving them and shaping them and we went to First Beach looking for pebbles to place in the rattle (and David forgot his so his rattle was a silent one but Mr. Wilson fixed that one too) and so far they look like paddles that we take on a canoe.

The High School, middle School AND the 5th and 6th grades have been taking out the school canoe after school and Miss Pearla was trying out a new Quileute word Boith—for hair but everyone thought she said boat, so they threw her into the river and she nearly froze to death but John Rush fished her out in the nick of time.  She remains jolly good but scared to speak about her hair while traveling on the school canoe. 

Your children are AWESOME....  It is amazing to hear them singing Quileute paddle songs as they are pulling the school canoe.  We are always looking for pullers, so if anyone is interested, please contact Mr. Zantua and join us on one of the pulls.

On October 15th Bobbie Coberly- Black celebrated her 11th birthday with us and Minnie Mouse!!  We had a wonderful day as most of the class was able to go Bowling with Miss Earley.  We had cupcakes, and cake and ROOT BEER FLOATS!!! 

And then ONLY two days later......

Austin and Nathan Flores turned 11 and by golly if we didn’t have cake and root beer floats all over again....  if by chance I don’t win The Biggest Loser Contest you all know what sunk me was the CAKE and ROOT BEER FLOATS!
