Raven Crest II Construction Begins:
We’re happy to announce that construction has started at Raven Crest II. A contract was signed with Jack Grinnell, J.M. Grinnell Construction of Sequim for the construction of eight homes. Plans for an additional three homes are in the works, if successful, this would add to the number of existing homes in Quileute Heights.
Jack Grinnell, a Jamestown/S’Klallam tribal member, has constructed buildings and homes in the Port Angeles Sequim area. One of his recent projects is the seventeen new homes currently under construction in Port Gamble. We look forward to working with him. Once construction is completed we plan to host a Grand Opening celebration.
Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) Tribal Light Bulb Program:
Special thanks to the BPA for the grant to administer the Tribal Light Bulb Program. This program has allowed us to replace all of the standard light bulbs in homes on the reservation with energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs).
If you are interested in participating in this program, please call us at 374-9719. Our Maintenance Staff will go into your home and replace all of your standard bulbs with brand new CFL bulbs.
A note from the ENERGY STAR website: In comparison to standard bulbs, qualified compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) they will save about $30/year. And use 75% less energy and last about 10 times longer than the standard household bulb.
Canine Vaccination and Medication Program:
Special thanks to Tribal Council for funding the Canine Vaccination and Medication Program which started July 6, 2010. Funding for this program has made it possible to administer medication and vaccinations to all of the dogs in the village.
Special thanks to Karen Beyer and Sharon Penn for volunteering their services to administer the vaccinations, flea treatments and de-worming medications to our pets.
