Past QTS Events
Quileute Tribal School held its 1st International Fair on October 28th, 2008 at the Akalat Center. Each teacher created a territory that represented a nation-state. Travelers were given a passport which was stamped by students at each table. Nations represented included Egypt, India, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Native American Tribes, Poland, and San Marino. The QTS International Fair provided an opportunity for attendees to learn about different cultures through viewing a presentation, looking at pictures, and holding artifacts. Costumed students representing Mexico, Israel, and Japan danced to traditional music. Indian henna artists painted hands, arms and faces. Students and community members who attended were treated with a variety of cuisine including Japanese Yakisoba, Indian Dal, Polish Sausage, and Egyptian Jams. In sum, the QTS International Fair provided an excellent learning opportunity for the Quileute community.
